This page is meant to provide a one stop database for fishing locations in Nova Scotia. This project utilizes the functionality of a FREE software package now being distributed by Google - called Google Earth.

Google earth is a scaled down GIS application the is free to download and use. Software is still classified as BETA and will likely be updated regularily.

System Requirements:

Minimum configuration:
Operating system: Windows 2000, Windows XP
CPU speed: Intel® Pentium® PIII 500 MHz
System memory (RAM): 128MB
200MB hard-disk space
3D graphics card: 3D-capable video card with 16MB VRAM
1024x768, 32-bit true color screen
Network speed: 128 kbps ("Broadband/Cable Internet")

Recommended configuration:
Operating system: Windows XP
CPU speed: Intel® Pentium® P4 2.4GHz+ or AMD 2400xp+
System memory (RAM): 512MB
2GB hard-disk space
3D graphics card: 3D-capable video card with 32MB VRAM or greater
1280x1024, 32-bit true color screen
Network speed: 128 kbps ("Broadband/Cable Internet")

If your system will not run google earth the Data will be able to be accessed at some time in the near future via this website.

How to load the fishing hole system:

1. Download and unzip the file above.
Dont have winzip? Can be downloaded here.

2. Open Google earth

3. Goto file (Top right), Choose open, then choose the file you downloaded in step one.

4. Fishing locations will open as a directory tree in temporary places folder on left hand menu.

5. Simple double click on a location in the left menu and you will zoom to that location. Single click will allow your to get directions.

What information is provided?

Currently location and species information is included - I will be expanding to include other useful information as it becomes available.

Where does the information come from?

Anyone who wants to add, edit or correct information on fishing locations in Nova Scotia as well as make general suggestions please send information to: webmaster@mynovascotia.net

How often will the database be updated?

Whenever I receive new data - a new dated file will be uploaded and displayed.
